No, it’s not a scene from Cartoon Network Real (though I wish it were), it’s from a wonderful series of photographs posted on the JPG Magazine blog by Dina Goldstein featuring traditional Disney princess figures (and Red Riding Hood) in realistic or socially problematic scenarios. Snow White and Belle are my favorites. And while Rapunzel is incredibly somber and reflective, Jasmine is just laugh-out-loud absurdity come to life.
‘Up’ ticket sales soar past ‘The Incredibles’
In it’s 38th day of release, Pixar’s Up managed to bring its domestic ticket sales total to an incredible $264,873,000, making it Pixar Animation Studios’ 2nd most popular film, in terms of sales, behind only Finding Nemo — which brought in $339,714,978 in its domestic run. Up’s latest total surpassed The Incredibles’ total of $261,441,092. Also, Up’s worldwide total surpassed the $300 million mark, with many countries yet to release the film. Expect a huge surge in the numbers once the film opens in these large, foreign markets.
As mentioned, Up is only in its 38th day of release, which means it will make a lot more money in the coming months, although I predict it will not take the number one spot away from Finding Nemo. Up would need close to $75 million more dollars in domestic ticket sales, which I can guarantee will not happen.
Goldilocks Goes To School
The video production manager at SAS Creative Marketing was going through the archives of previous SAS promotions and discovered some 1989 radio ads for On-Campus Housing. They were really unique and kind of funny, so we decided to re-license some of the audio recordings for web distribution. Then, I created an animated front-end to complete the commercial in Illustrator, Flash, and After Effects and published it online. Here's a peek at the final product:
